Langley Beef 4-H
Since 1952 the Langley Beef 4-H Club has been fully supporting the 4-H motto of “Learn to do by Doing”.
We make sure that our members learn and experience all that 4-H is about. They will gain knowledge in agriculture, leadership, husbandry, record keeping, public speaking, judging, teamwork and the many other aspects of 4-H.
Starting every 4-h year in January, we meet the third Sunday for our club meeting and the last Sunday of every month to weigh and train our project animals.
We frequently invite guest speakers to help us gain more knowledge and improve our skills. Before we get ready for the show season, we have our yearly “Mini Show” in June. Not only an opportunity to check how well the training is going, but also a fun family potluck dinner!
The summer provides many opportunities to show off our beef animals at the fairs from Vancouver Island to Maple Ridge, Chilliwack and the PNE. Most importantly, we have tons of fun as a club together! Club activities get supported through fundraising, especially our flower basket sale in May!
Our club comes together for a big thank-you dinner in September, inviting all the buyers of our market steers to enjoy an entertaining evening. Finally, in December we have our awards night. The members receive their trophies for the achievements throughout the 4-H year.
